Trick or Treating in July

The Provo Library has such a great children's program. For a prize for doing the summer reading program the kids got to trick or treat around the ballroom. It was really fun and well done. Ben improvised for a few seconds. :)

On the Farm

My friends I met from working at the Provo Temple, Gayle and Lynda, own a little 1-acre farm with dogs, cats, chickens, geese, and ducks. We've been out there twice now and it is so much fun! The first time they sent us home with 3 goose eggs to cook up. :) This time we went home with freshly picked broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, and squash! It was such fun!

July 4th celebrations

Parade along University Avenue in the morning. It was hot! Garrett is on Grandpa Gary's shoulders behind Ben. After the parade we walked to a 7-11. The boys were also introduced to 7-11 Slurpees for the first time. May have been my first time too...
Got the pool out in front of the house after the parade to cool off.

Real men work in the kitchen.

 Our delicious shishkabob grilled dinner.
 THE BOX of fireworks. :)
The boys made fire works hats at the library.
 Such a fun day!!!
The next morning the boys are doing what they do best when Grandpa comes: play with his IPad or IPhone, and then take turns. :)
Grandma Gayle sent them each a new outfit. Thanks Grandma!

T-Ball and Baseball

The season is over, and I am sort of glad. This summer was my first taste of what a 'soccer mom' does. Two practices during the week, and then two games on Saturday. And I signed the boys up at the Orem rec center at the time because we were living in Orem. Now we live in Provo, so it takes a good 20 minutes to get to practice and games each time. Richard really liked it, Garrett tolerated it and we'll think about it next year. :) Enjoy some pictures.

No injuries this time with the fire and it really was a fun, and almost relaxing experience. No messy dinner (we had baby sausages and S'mores) and the weather was pleasant. (Except for the WIND while I was trying to put up the tents-by myself!) Ben met us there after work.
Nunns Park up Provo Canyon is our favorite camping spot for now. It's close, cheap and just right for a day away from home. The falls are just a nice walk away.
 Spencer enjoying his S'more. :)
Richard recently conquered his fear of riding a bike without training wheels and now he loves it, but is still getting the hang of it.

In the morning the two older boys rode their bikes while we tagged along behind. We walked along Bridal Veil Falls. I always forget how cold it gets at night, but luckily I packed warm clothing for the morning. :) Next time I will get it right.

Just stuff lately

My flower garden. Our hose recently got run over and so Richard came up with the brilliant idea to just replace the end by cutting off the metal part and replacing it. Smart boy. He said Grandpa Fred did that as did our last apartment manager.
Last day of kindergarten and 2nd grade right before we left on our trip to St. George to visit grandparents and greats.
Spencer hanging out at my parents' new house.
A great little splash park in St. George. Other than the wind it was gorgeous. That also meant there weren't a lot of people around.
Memorial Day and Grandpa Daly is all dressed up.
Today we were outside in the heat all morning so here is Spencer showing what is the best thing to do after such a busy morning. We had Richard's first coach pitch game and Garrett's first t-ball game. Then we went to the Provo farmer's market. It was about 90 degrees all morning. Whew.

Hiking "The Y"

Richard has been asking for years to hike up "Y" mountain. So on Wednesday night we went up with the youth in our church group. It is a tough hike. Ben carried Spencer on his shoulders at some points. But the 3 boys mostly did it all by themselves. In the first picture you can see Richard in his green t-shirt waaaaay up ahead. He was so excited.

I was very pink. Not from sunburn...The last time (and only other time) I did this hike was when I was about 6 weeks pregnant with Richard. That was, uh, 9 years ago...
Provo down in the valley. It was fun pointing stuff out. The boys liked pointing out the temple to me, one of the few landmarks they recognize. I should be proud, yes?!

Just some stuff we've been doing

Cute picture of Garrett all polite at his kindergarten concert a few weeks ago.
Richard's fish he caught a while back with Jim his instructor.
My birthday bouquets. The cookies are from Becky and her family and the flowers are from Paul and Janay. Thank you so much!!! They helped me eat my birthday cake too. :)
Richard fishing at Lindon Marina Harbor.
Spencer and Garrett throwing rocks in the harbor. You can see Richard and Jim through the thrushes there.

Fishing at Vivian Park

I enrolled Richard in a fishing class through the Orem rec center. This was his 3rd of 6 weeks and he has really enjoyed it. This week Spencer reeeeeeeally wanted to fish too, so here are his attempts as well. The instructor let's his little group borrow his reels and he even had a little one for Spencer with a weight on the end minus hook so it was fairly safe.
And Spencer looooooves animals. He is always asking to hold any cat, dog, bird, guinea pig etc, and apparently fresh water fish are no exception. The mother of the boy who caught the fish joked that the fish would be harder to catch this time.

Garrett's Kindergarten program

I think this was the cutest song ever. :)
