Tracy Aviary Trip

Waiting for the FrontRunner. :) It was a bit chilly when we started out but luckily the weather warmed up later in the day.

We had to get a picture of Richard with the vulture since he is a vulture in the elementary school music "The Jungle Book" :)

Love those flamingos...so interesting.

This swan was sleeping on one leg and the kids thought it was pretty funny.

We tried a couple of different venues this year for Easter. First we went to Smith's Grocery at 8:30 where they had donut holes and juice for breakfast. Then the "Easter Egg Hunt" consisted of three different aisles for three different age groups, the workers dumped the candy and yelled 'go'. Since there were only about 20 kids participating it was super easy and we got a ton of pretty good candy. :)

So after we cleaned the church building we headed to BYU for their big Easter Egg hunt. By the time we got there someone from the crowd had already yelled 'go' so it was over before it was supposed to begin. Ben and I didn't feel bad that our kids missed out because they already had a sackful of candy from Smith's. :) It was just disappointing how some people are so obsessed with getting their kid the most and the best at the expense of others. We still had a good time.

Then of course we got to decorate eggs. Sarah came over to play too. We got a "Star Wars" themed dye kit; meaning it had color tablets and shrinky dinks that were star wars theme and 3D so the kit came with 3D glasses...:) It was a small novelty.

Each cub scout made a cake (with little assistance from Mom). Richard of course wanted a Star Wars themed cake. He did all the design work himself. :) I cheated a little and helped with the grey frosting. :) But he helped mix the cakes, the frosting, the colors, etc. He even used a baggie to design his frosting.

I was also in charge of making the chicken and sauce for the Hawaiian haystacks. I doubled my recipe and barely made it. :) Here I am shredding chicken. :) Courtesy of Richard.

Denim made a hamburger cake (really cute and I want to make one) the "patty" was brownies...:) Riley made a 3-tier cub scouts cake, each tier had the name of the different dens, wolf, bear, webelos. Very creative. Richard won the award for "Out of this World."

Garrett's class made angler fish to catch all their Valentines. :) Spencer got to decorate a cookie at Garrett's class. :)

Building, etc, Lego Family Night

A friend of ours gave the boys some modeling clay for Christmas. Richard has made some wonderful creations, mostly Star Wars, but they very detailed. His collection includes Luke, R2D2, C3PO, a dragon, etc.

A local organization called Bricks for Kids had an open family night where we could go and basically play with their Lego sets. It was really fun and had something for everyone. :)

Christmas and Birthdays!

Gary and Margot sent us some really pretty glasses for being fancy with ice cream, etc, and Ben got me a beautiful new watch to replace the one that I've worn for years that I loved.

At my parents' new house in St. George. They haven't officially moved in yet so there isn't a lot of furniture. It was super fun.

The table and matching chairs that the boys are sitting at was made for me and my little sister in 1984 by my grandparents. Spencer loved my 3 year old handprints.
